Math And E.L.A exams

In E.la we are starting to study for exams. First we did a schonal test out of 100. After you corrected it, you had to ffigure out what your mark was. Mr.Routledge told us where we were before and we are now. Most people went up. Also 20 of those 100 words are going to be one the test.

In math we started studying for exams. The first thing we did was mental math. You had to number your paper 1-10 and answer questions. We also did the no calculators part, witch might take some people quite a long time. It has questions like 432.89 x 523.80. Then we started some of the third part that you can use calculators in.

Angles

In math we are reviewing for an exam. One of the things we learned about was angles. An acute angle is less than 90 degrees, an obtuse angle is 90 degrees to 180 degrees. a right angle is exactly 90 degrees and a reflex angle is 180 to 360 degrees.

Math

In math class we have been going over review for exams coming up soon. In one of the review sheets there was a question that said we were supposed to put some numbers in scientific notation. This is how you do scientific notation.

Ex. 22,149
4 3 2 1
2 x 10 + 2 x 10 + 1 x 10 + 4 x 10 + 9

All you do is get your biggest number (in value) and multiply it by ten to the power of how ever many numbers are left in your original number (22,149)

Alec

Math

Today we learned about mean, median and mode.

Mean is an average group of numbers. to get mean you have to add the numbers together, divide the total for the numbers by how many numbers there is all together.

Median is a group of numbers that is ordered greatest to largest.

Mode is a number that appears most often in a group of numbers.

Math

Yesterday in math we learned about Mean,Median,Mode and Range.

Mean-Is the average group of numbers.Step one:add the numbers together,Step two:Divide the sum of the numbers by by how many numbers in total.

Range-Is the difference between the highest and lowest numbers in a group of numbers.

Median-Is the middle number in a group of numbers arranged in order.

Mode-Is the number that occurs most often in a set of numbers.

Math

Yesterday in math we learned about range, median, mode, mean.

Mean- the average number in a group of numbers. To find it, add all the numbers together and then divide by the amount of numbers.
Mode- the number that occurs the most. You just have to find the number that appears the most. It is fine to have more than one number.
Median- the number that is in the middle of a group of number that are arranged in order. If there are two in the middle, add them together and divide them by 2.
Range-the difference between the lowest and highest numbers.

ela

we have started studying for exam.ela exam is on 21st math exam is on the 22ndafter after the examif you have a note you can go home.

numbers in word form

today in math class we reviewed unit 1 math wich is the different forms for numbers. there is standard, exponential, word form, and expanded.

ex: 25
standard- 25
exponential-52
word form- twenty five
expanded form- 20+5=25
Today in math class we started to study unit 1 for our math exam. It is on expanded for and scientific notation and all of that stuff for example expanded for looks like this. 1,236,987
1,000,000+200,000+30,000+ 6,000+ 900+80+7

Math

In math we learned what mean, median, mode and range

mean- the sum of the number divided by the numbers in a set.

median- the middle number in a set of numbers arranged in order.

mode - the number that appears the most.

range- the difference between the highest and lowest numbers in a set

Math

Today in math we lerned about circle graphs. Circle graphs are a circle with information in it, it has percents insted of numbers. In a circle there are 360 degrees. To make a circel graph you need,
1: protractor
2: Ruler
3: Compass
4: Pencil
Example:
25% of 360
0.25 x 360 = 90 degrees.

Circle Graphs

Today in math we learned how to make circle graphs. To make a circle graph you have to know how many degrees of the angle each percent is. Example:
25% of 360 degrees
0.25X360=90 degrees
Then you make a 90 degree angle on your graph and label it 25%.

N.H.L Press Conference

On Tuesday we watched the N.H.L press conference about if Atlanta Thrashers are coming to Winnipeg. It has been 15 years since Manitoba had a team. There name is not going to be the Jets. They haven't announced what the team name will be. When The city of Winnipeg heard the news everyone went on the streets and celebrated for all the day till the night. A lot of people were wearing the Jets logo.

In science yesterday we started to make spaghetti bridges. When you make a bridge you want to make it make it vary light and make it strong. So when i made my bridge i made a base that was strong and light. And when you are making the bridge if you want extra support you can take some spaghetti and cross it over your base.

Math

In math we learned about reflections. You first draw a co-ordinate plane. Then you will draw your points like A, B and C, then you would draw the line from one point to the next and since there is only three points it should make a triangle. Next you will draw the reflection line any where on the paper. After you draw the reflection line you will draw your reflection on the other side of the reflection line. And after you are finished it should look the same as someone looking in a mirror the reflection image.

Short Stories

In short stories we are writing another short story. But this time instead of writing about one thing you like, we write about oner thing you hate. Last time you had to do a what-why-how chart, and idea details chart and Draw-Label-Caption. But this time you only had to do the what-why-how chart and ideas details. MY story is about a Wasp Who Couldn't Fly. The wasps name is Andrew, His mom and him had to move from there old house to Moose Jaw because a spider ate there home. The problem was that she lost her stinger so the other wasps made fun of her. The other problem was that she couldn't fly.

Did you know that wasps bite you even if you don't do anything to them.

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Today in Science we worked on our spaghetti bridges. When we are done building the bridges we are putting weights on the bridges. The reason we are building these bridges is to see who's is the lights. The bridge must still be able to hold weights. We are to bring all of our own supplies. Most of us are using hot glue guns to hold the spaghetti in to place. We are not aloud to use any think but some type of glue and spaghetti.

Ducks

In short stories we are writing our own short stories. My story has a duck in it. Did you know that there are many different groups of ducks some include dabbing ducks, diving ducks, eider, goldeneye and others types too.

ELA

In English class we had to write a short story in only a few classes spread over a couple of days. My story is about a boy named Bob who lives in the city of Toronto and absolutely hates school. He hates allot of different subjects in school and would way rather be gaming out all day instead. In the end school isn't that bad. One thing that we learned was that to make a good short story you have to have a beginning, middle and end. We also learned that there has to be a problem and some how it has to be solved.

ALEC

Children's Story

This week we had to make our second children's story. The week before my stoory was about a gir named Sally who had a very adventure's mind. My story this week was about a girl named Carmen who hates rainy days. Carmen didn't have rain boots and she really wanted to go and play out in the puddles. So her Mom went uptown and bought her nice yellow rubber boots. Our stories were 4 pages long. The first page was an introduction. the second and third pages were problems. And the 4th page was how it all got fixed.

translations

A translation is where you take a point of a shape on a coordinate plane and move it over however many times it says and move it up or down however many times it says. You use the same set of numbers for every point and eventually you will have the exact same shape just in a different spot. The image is an example using the numbers (6,-4)

E.L.A.

this week we have to make a short story that is four pages long and have to have four pictures for each page. then you have to colour in each picture. and you have to make a title page that is colourful, has your title on it and has to have something to do with your story. its all due friday. and we still have tomorrow and thursday to work on it. my story is about this girl who wont clean her room. but in the end, learns her lesson and cleans her room offten.

Symmetry

Today we learned about lines of symmetry and planes of symmetry. Lines of symmetry divide a 2 dimensional objects into 2 equal parts. Each part is a reflection of the other. Planes of symmetry divide a 3 dimensional object into 2 equal parts. Each part is also a reflection of the other.

Math

In math we learned what lines of symmetry means.

A line of symmetry divides a figure into two identical parts. Each part is the reflection image of the other part.

ela

in ela we are creating short. i have done 2 so far one about rodeo and this done about paintballing

Math

Today in math we were working on lines of symmetry and planes of symmetry.

Lines Of symmetry:A line of symmetry divides a figure into two identical parts. Each part is the reflection image of the other part.A baseball diamond has one line of symmetry.Ex:A pentagon has 4 lines of symmetry.

Planes of symmetry:Many three dimensional objects are symmetrical. The left hand and right hand halves of this Canadian aircraft are the same.Ex:An Isosceles triangular prism has one line of symmetry.

Math

Yesterday in math we learned about rotations.  There is a rotation point and you can rotate the shape 90, 180, 270, and 360. Counterclockwise is ccw, and clockwise is cw.

Drama

for drama we have to write a puppet show. we had to write our own script and make everything.

a syncline is the bottom part of the folded rock
Yesterday in social studies we started a project on countries that are poor. we have to find out some stuff about them like where is the country located and some interesting facts about it.

Translations

In math we are learning about translations. A translation is where you have plotted a triangle on a coordinate plane, and then after you plot that the translation may say (3,-2) and you would move the dots on the triangle to the right three, and down two.

Science

In science we learned about mountains yesterday. There are two different types of mountains an Old Mountain and a Young Mountain. How you can tell them apart is that an Young Mountain has rough jagged point at the top. While Old Mountains have a smooth top on itself.

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Social Studies

Today In Social I worked on a sheet about Dubai Polities and History. Dubai is in the Middle East. Did you know Dubai has one of the best justice systems in the Middle East. If there was to be a natural disaster in Dubai, Dubai would be able to re-build its self faster than any other country in the Middle East. This is because Dubai is one of the most healthiest countries in the Middle East.

Translations

In math we are learning translations. On a coordinate plain if the translation is (-5, 8) then you move your dot five places to the left and eight places up.

Math

In math we are learning about translations. Translations are done on a coordinate plane. A coordinate plane is a vertical line and a horizontal line that are intersected at zero. The lines have negative and positive numbers. When you translate something it doesn't change it stays the same shape, size and figure. You just move it from left to right and up or down. Here are some examples:

This is how a translation is written as a question:

A(3,4) , B(1,1) , C(4,1)

Translation (-4,-2)

Here are four examples of translations in real life:

Washing windows, puck sliding on the ice, the belt on a treadmill, and a Frisbee gliding in the air.

Track and Field

Yesterday our school did Track and Field. One of the events I participated in was shot-put. this event is played by putting a metal/iron ball by your chin and pushing it forward into the air and trying to get the farthest measurement out of your competitors. Do NOT through it like a baseball because you can brake your wrist, and that is not good.

ALEC

Mountains

Today in science we learned about mountains. You know if a mountain is old or young by the shape. young mountains are jagged at the top. old mountains are rounded at the top.

Did you know:
Some of the highest mountains are at the bottom of the sea.
Hawaii is at the top of a volcanic mountain in the Pacific Ocean.
More than half the mountain is below water.
The largest range of mountains is in the Atlantic Ocean.

Layers of the Earth

Today in science we learned about the different layers of the Earth. We had to put them in order and say if they were a solid, liquid, or gas. I learned that the core of the Earth is actually a solid and that the upper mantle just below the Earth's crust is liquid like taffy.

Mountains

Today in science we learned about mountains. There are 2 types of mountains.
1. Young mountains. They have jagged tops. They are newer and are still growing.
2. Old mountains. They have rounded tops due to erosion. They have been around for hundreds of years.
In Drama we are doing puppet plays. The story is about this two knights named Sir Lancelot and Sir Devanelot. One cold December day Sir Lancelot got sick from food poising. Off they went to see Dr. James. There is also a dragon in the story. The story takes place in a castle far far away in Green bay Ohio.

math

today in math we had to do a sheet on translations. We had to make 4 quadrants and then plot the  figure and then make the translation. You take the original figure to whatever the translations says. Like Translation (-2, 2), and move it to the left or right.

Science

In science we wrote notes on volcanos.Did you know there are 3 types of volcanos.Composite Volcano,Shield Vocano and an Ash and Cinder Cone.
Composite Volcano-The eruption can be so violent.Rock is melted into magma.Pressure builds until the volcano erupts.Ex:MT.ST Helens U.S.A.
Shield Volcano-Is the largest of the 3 types. It is shaped like a shield that is lying face up on the ground with gentle shapes. It is constantly erupting, sending out lava most of the time. But not violently.ex:Mouna Lou,Hawaii
Ash and Cinder Cone-Is the smallest type.It is gently sloping sides and a large bowl -shaped crater.Usually less than 300 m in height.Ex:Paricutin,Mexico

science

yesterday in science we were giving a map of the world. we had to post where earthquakes happened. we got the information from our text book. did you know that most earthquakes and volcanoes happen in the northern hemisphere?
A shield volcano is the largest of the three types of volcanoes. It's shaped like a shield that is lying face up on the ground with gentle slopes, it is constantly erupting.
Yesterday in math we got our tests back. We had to correct the whole thing. one of the questions were what are 3 thing that you can measure length with, i put ruler meeter stick and a trundle wheel.

volcanos

Short Stories

In Short Stories we are learning how to write a short story. You have steps to follow though.
1.You have to do a Topic T-Chart, you pick ten topics that you hate and like.
2.A what-why-how chart, where you have have 4points and write a how about them.
3.And Idea and detail chart, where you pick one of the 4points and do 4details about them.
4.Then after your done all those you have to do a Draw-Label-Caption.
Then your ready to write your short story, remember it has to be a story that a mother would read her kid before bed.

Writing a Short Story

In ELA we are learning how to write a short story. To write a short story you first have to pick a topic. To help you pick one make a T-chart of what you like and what you hate. Then you make a what-why-how table. You say something about your topic and put that as the what, then you decide how many pages you want in you story (Ex. 4) and say four comments describing why you said that about your topic. Then you explain thy whys more. (Ex. how did the watch disappear? what did she use for legs?)

science

yesterday in science we are plotting down earthquakes on a map. Did you know that there are lots of earthquakes every day that we do not know about. we do not know about them because no one has died.

Science

In Science we have just started a new chapter, Volcanoes and Earthquakes. In this chapter a few classes back I learned that every day there is one or more earthquake happening. I think the reason we do not realize it is because no one dies.

Math Test

Today we had a math test on measurement. Some things that were covered were circumference, angles, and triangles.

To find the circumference of a circle, multiply the diameter ( the distance across the middle of the circle) by pi (3.14).

To find the area of a circle, multiply pi by the radius ( the distance from the middle of the circle to the edge) squared.

Writing a 5 paragraph essay

In ela we were learning how to write a five paragraph essay. To write one you have to make a t chart with things you like to do and things you have to do.Then you have to pick a topic from your t chart and make a web with 5 things about the topic. Then you have to write an outline. A outline is when you write 5 paragraphs. In those paragraphs you have to have a topic sentence and 2 other supporting sentences. Then you write your paragraph And just copy your outline but add more details.

how to write a 5 paragraph eassy.

In ela we are learning how to write a five paragraph essay. the first step is to make a t chart with the things you like and hate. Then you pick one thing from one of the hate or the like side. then you do a web and put ideas that that mean. Say an example is cats i would make a web and say something about cats. so an example of that would be they like the sun.

Writing a Short Story

Today in ELA we learned the first few steps to writing a short story. The first step we learned was to think of ideas using a t-chart. Next we picked one idea and made a What Why How Chart. To do this you think of something about your topic then write four reasons why. The last step was the how. This is explaining the reasons in the why.

Gym

In gym today we had our fitness run. In our fitness run what we do is we run as many laps as we can in a certain amount of time. Usually we run in the gym but today we ran outside in the back of the school grounds. We ran for twelve minutes and we tried to do as many laps as we could around the school ground.

Triangles

Today in math we did a sheet on angles of the interior of a triangle. Some things that we learned were:

  • The sum of the angles must add up to 180 degrees .

  • An equilateral triangle must have 60 degrees for all the angles. Because the sides are equal, the angles must be equal.

Track and Field

track and field is almost here. in track and field you have to pick events, such as: 60 meter sprint, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, and 1500 meter. you can also do stuff that is not running, you can do stuff like long jump, high jump, and triple jump.

Gym

In gym we are practicing for our track and field which is on May 25. Some of the events are running long jump, high jump, triple jump, discus, shot put, and then the races 60, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1500 meter races. If you are in long jump all you need to do is run as fast as you can and jump as far as you can at the line to jump, when you jump you jump with to feet. In the 60 meter race all you do is run as fast as you can for 60 meters because it is a very fast race.

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

In Math today we learned the degree of a triangle. All three degrees hath to equal 180 degrees. If its an equilateral triangle all three side equal 60 degrees. If its an Isosceles triangle two sides are the same. If its an scalene triangle none of the sides are the same.

Grammar

Today in grammar we learned how to write a five paragraph in little time. You have to pick a topic . Then make a web and say one word things about your topic. Your one word is then what you talk about in your paragraph. Tomorrow we are going to write our paragraph.
today in E.L.A class we learned how to make a 5 paragraph essay very easy. first thing you do is make a web then you make 5 paragraph starters.

Map of Southeastern Asia

Today in Social Studies we made a map of Southeastern Asia. I learned the Indonesia is made up of many islands and that part of Malaysia is on mainland Asia and part is on an island.

making a 5 paragraph essay the easy way

to make an easy 5 paragraph essay you have to make a we have to make a web with your main topic in the middle and then come up with 5 different things about that topic. the next thing you have to do is wright down 1 of the words on the web and do a few sentences on that thing and then you have 1 paragraph, do that with every word in the web

Undergorund To Canada

Toady in novel we finished our book called Underground To Canada. The book was about slavery. There was a girl named Julilly and she had a mom named Mammy Sally. Julilly and her mom (Mammy Sally) got separated and Julilly went to a different plantation and Mammy Sally went to another plantation. They were trying to make it to Canada when Lester and Adam ( friends of Julillys and her moms) got caught by the slave catchers. They then escaped but once Adam and Lester made it Canada Adam died.

Math

In Math class we did a sheet of paper called Classifying Triangles. Each triangle has sides. There are different kinds of sides and names for them:

Scalene-has no equal sides

Isosceles- has two sides that are equal

Equilateral-all sides are are equal

ALEC

classifying triangles

Today in math we learned about triangles. You classify triangles by the lengths of their sides.

Equilateral triangle = has three sides of the same length.
Scalene triangle = has no sides of the same length.
Isosceles triangle = has two sides of the same length.

You classify triangles by the measures of their angles.

Acute triangle = has three acute angles ( less then 90 degrees).
Right triangle = has one right angle (90 degrees).
Obtuse triangle = has one abuse angle ( more than 90 degrees).

Triangles

Today in math, we learned about triangles. You can describe triangles by the angles or the length of the sides. The different types of triangles are:

Right- has one right angle
Obtuse- has one obtuse angle
Acute- all the angles are acute
Scalene- the sides are all different lengths
Isosceles- two of the sides are the same length
Equilateral- all the sides are the same length

Math

In math today we learned about eguilateral, isoselous, and scalene triangles. An equilateral triangle is a traingle that has 3 equal sides. An isoselous triangle is a triangle with 2 equal sides and an opposite side. An scalene triangle has 3 different sides, none of them are the same.

Examples:

1. If a triangle has sides that are all 9cm. It is a equilateral triangle because all the sides are the same.

2. If you have a triangle with a side that is 3cm, 5cm and 7cm. It is an scalene triangle because none of the sides are the same.

3. If you have a triangle with sides that are 4cm, 4cm, and 2cm. It is a isoselous triangle because 2 of the sides are the same and one of them is different.

math

today in math we arenaming triangles.

Quadrilateral: all the same size.
Scalene: all different sides.
Isosceles: 2 sides are the same.

math

In math we learned how to name triangles. Some of the name is
Scales triangle =Has no sides of equal length.
Isosceles= has two sides of equal length.

underground to canada

we finished the underground to canada boook i really liked it i liked that julilly and liza got meet with mamma saly and lester again

Social Skills

Today in Social Skills we are going on a trip we do not know where we are going but we are surely going on a trip
Today in math we stated to classify angles. For example an scalene angle is a triangle that has no sides the equal length, an isosceles triangle has two sides of equal length and an equilateral triangle has three sides of equal length.

Science

Today in Science we learned about soil.It depends were you live but if you live were sand is your soil is usually always dry because the sand particles are large and the water goes right through the sand.. If you live where clay is your soil then if you get to much rain your soil will have water on top of it because the clay was small particles that make the water stay in the clay soil and not come out.If you live where your soil it just right then you are lucky because the paticles are just the right size.

Math

In math yesterday we were working on how to measure angles without using a protractor. These are some of the angles.

Alternate Angles-are always equal.

Corresponding Angles-are always equal too. One is the inside and one is outside of the transversal line.

Co-interior Angles-equal 180 degrees. Both both outside the parallel lines inside the transversal.

Co-exterior Angles-equal 180 degrees. Both outside the parallel lines inside the transversal.

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Math

Today in math we did a sheet on how to find the measurements of angles without measuring them with a protractor. To do this we know that alternate angles are equal, corresponding angles are equal, and that co-interior and co-exterior angles are supplementary. Supplementary means that if you put two or more angles together they equal 180 degrees.

This week, we are going to vote in a student vote. We will be voting the same as adults for the Federal Election. Our vote will not count, as we are not 18.

science

yesterday in science we watched a bill nye the science guy video on caves. did you know that caves form in rock, water, or ice?

complimentary + suplimentairy

A complimentary angle is a few angles where no matter what the sum of the angles is always 90 degrees. A suplimentairy angle is a few angles that always add up to be 180 degrees

Novel

In novel we had to read chapter 11. After we were done reading chapter 11 we had to give the definition of Tennessee, canebrakes, blunt and congress. Here are 2 definitions of 2 words.:
Tennesssee- a southern state in the U.S.A below Kentucky.
Canebrakes- little growth of small trees. The stem of a plant, like bamboo.

And we had to answer some questions about this chapter. Here are 2 examples of the questions asked:
1. Why didn't the plantation owners want the slaves to read?
The plantation owners didn't want the slaves to read because the could escape to canada, read signs.
2.What happened to liza's dad when Massa found him looking at a book?
When Massa found him looking at a book he tied him to a tree and stripped him from waist down and gave him 50lashes.

Voting

Tomorrow in school we are having a mini election. The five main political parties in Canada are: the Conservative Party of Canada, the Liberal Party of Canada, Bloc Quebecois, NDP or New Democratic Party and the Green Party

Intersecting and perpendicular lines

Today in Math we learned about intersecting and perpendicular lines. Intersecting lines are lines that cross. Perpendicular lines cross or meet and are right angles. Intersecting and perpendicular lines are alike? They are alike because they both cross each other. They are different because perpendicular lines have to be a right angle while intersecting lines can be any angle.

Math

Today in Math we we were working on intersecting and perpendicular lines.
Intersecting lines are lines that meet or cross.
Perpendicular lines are lines that meet or cross on a 90 degree angle.

oppisite angles are always the same degree.

Math

Today in Math class, we learned about perpendicular and intersecting lines. An intersecting line is a line that crosses another line. A perpendicular line is a line that crosses another line at right angles.
Intersecting line

Novel

Today in novel we learned what the terms station, tracks, dry goods, hardware, and freight means when people refer to the Underground Railroad.
station-the houses of the people helping slaves escape to Canada
tracks-the routes between abolitionist's houses that led to Canada
dry goods-women that were being transported along the railroad
hardware-men that were being transported along the railroad
freight-people that were being transported along the railroad
Today in math we had a review about rounding.
If i had the number 276, 243.

And i wanted to round to the nearest ten thousand i would round it to 280, 000. Because the number to the right (the thousands place) is greater than five so i round up. If it was less than five i would have to round down.

Math

In math we are working on intersecting and perpendicular lines.Intersecting lines are lines that cross or meet.Perpendicular lines cross or meet at right angles. When you work on them opposite angles are equal to each other.
ex.There was 2 intersecting lines 4 parts in it.one of them was 120 degrees so across from that it would be the same,120 degrees. The other on was 60 degrees so across from that it would be another 60 degrees.

math

In math we learned what intersecting and perpendicular lines mean

Intersecting means they cross

Perpendicular means cross at right angles

Social Studies

In social studies today we had a test on South America and its countries. And one thing was about the Bolivian flag. The yellow stands for minerals resources, the red stands for the blood and bravery of the national hero's and the green stands for the fertility of the land.

Angles

Today we did more work on classifying angles. The different types of angles are:
1. acute- measures less than 90 degrees
2. obtuse- measures between 90 and 180 degrees
3. straight line- measure 180 degrees
4. reflex- measures between 180 and 360 degrees
5. supplementary- when the sum of 2 or more angles is 180 degrees
6. complimentary- when the sum of 2 or more angles is 90 degrees
7. right angle- measures exactly 90 degrees.
In math we are learning different kind of Angles. an acute angle is measured less than 90 degrees, a right angle is always 90 degrees, a obtuse angle angle measures between 90 and 180 degrees, A straight angle measures 180 degrees, A reflex angle measures between 18 and 160 degrees. In todays class we learned that a complementary angle is 90 degrees, and supplementary angles had up to 180 degrees.

Today in math we had to classify angles. Classifying angles is to make a complimentary angle or a supplementary angle. A complimentary angle is a angle whose sum is 90 degree. A supplementary angle is a angle whose sum is 180 degree.

Math

In Math class yesterday we were learning how to make angles with a protractor and this is how you do it: grab a piece of paper and your protractor, when that is done put your protractor on the piece of paper and mark a line on the paper below your protractor and then mark a dot on the paper above the protractor on what ever degree of measurement you want then after you are done this make a line from the line below your protractor to the line above the protractor. And then you have your angle.

Novel

In novel today we read chapter 8 of 'Underground Railroad To Canada'. Our assignment we had to do for chapter 8 was, we had to explain in 2 paragraphs what freedom meant to me and Julilly.

We had 2 periods to work on this. Here are some examples of
what freedom meant to me:
1. We get a free education
2. Allowed to make our own choices
3. WE live in a free country- Canada
4. Allowed to move and go to places without being abused or chased
5. We have the right to vote.

Some examples of what freedom means to Julilly:
1. Like a whippoorwill, being able to fly and settle where ever

2. To be paid for their work

3. Not getting whipped if you make a mistake

Angles

Today in math we learned more about angles. Angles are named with 3 letters and the letter in the middle is the vertex (meeting point of the lines). Ex: if an angle has the letters A, B, C, and the vertex is B, the angle would be angle A, B, C or

Underground Railroad

In novel class we are reading a book about the Underground Railway. The Underground Railway was a series of secret routes and safe houses that the slaves used to get to Canada. Some slaves made it to freedom but others were caught by the slave catchers and returned to their owners. If the slaves got caught they would be punished, some were whipped others were even killed.

Today in math we were learning how to use a pro tracker. we measured lots of angles, for example a 90 degree angle looks like this.

E.L.A.

in El.a. we are reading a book about slavery in the u.s.a. and how they escaped to Canada. Today we wrote a one page about what freedom means to me, and what freedom means to the main character, Julilly. To me freedom means that i'm free to do anything i want, go anywhere i please, and i can make my own decisions.

Language Of Geometry

This is the language of geometry.

1-points identify a position. They are represented by dots point b is written as b.
2-lines are made up of a set of points.A line goes on forever in both directions.
3- A ray is a part of a line with one endpoint. a ray begins at the end end point and goes on forever in one direction.
4-a line segment is part of a line with 2 end points.
5-an angle is formed by 2 rays or line segments with a common endpoint. the endpoint is called the vertex.the middle letter represents the vertex.
In E.L.A we had to write 2 paragraphs about what is freedom to you and what is freedom to Julilly. Freedom to me means that if you have a job you have to get paid unless your a volunteer. If you get paid you can buy things like a house, computer, trucks , cloths, you can buy video games, etc. What freedom means to Julilly is to make it to Canada so she couldn't be whipped anymore. Another reason is be back with mammy Sally. Julilly wanted to have lots of water and that she did not want to be whipped anymore.

angles

In math we are learning about angles. We learned how to use a protractor. There is an outer and inner scale.

That is a right angle. This angle is 90 degrees.

This angle you would measure with the outer scale that starts with zero the right side. If you had a angle that was facing the other way you would measure with the left side of the protractor.

ELA

In ELA today we wrote a two paragraph essay about the Underground To Canada. We had to write about what freedom meant to us and to the character in the book, Julilly. Freedom means to me Education. If you get an education you can get paid lots of money, that is if you go to college and university. If you go to College and university you could get a good well paid job like a doctor or an engineer. Freedom to Julilly was like a whippoorwill bird it could go where it pleased and do what it wanted to do.

Math

today in math we learned how to name angles and how to draw angles. to draw angles you need to use a protractor. first you make a straight line starting at the middle of the protractor then you make a mark at the number on the scale you want to make the angle at then you connect the mark with the start of the first line you made.

Math

Today in math we learned how to draw angles. First you have to draw a straight line. Then you line up the middle of the protractor at the end of the line. After that you put a dot at the degree you want to make the angle. Then you connect the dot to the end of the line.

Yesterday in Art we started are black and white hand pictures.Mots people got around 8 or 9 hands on a big white piece of paper. The first black and white picture was created in the 4th century B.C.

angles

in math we are learning about angles. the angle here is a ninety degree angle. when you see the square you don't have to measure the angle you just know it is a right angle, or ninety.

Art

Today in art we were in the middle of our hand designs. it is quite easy to make all of the design the only thing hard is to try and make a stratline without covering another peace.

math

Today in math we learned how to use a protractor to measure angles. we learned how to use inner scale and outer scale.

pie

in math we are learning how to do pie to get the circumference. take the cirkles diameter and multiply it by pie (3.14)

example: d= 2 cm 2 cm x pie = 6.28

Math Test

Our class had a math test the other day. Some of the questions were 'Solving Equations using Addition.' For example if you have a question like: n + 2 = 15 you will automatically know n = 13, but to prove it you write the question like this:
n + 2 = 15
n + 2 + (-2) = 15 + (-2)
n = 13

That's how you prove that 'n' is equal to 13.

Math

Yesterday in math we learned about circumference. To find the diameter you have to measure the radius then multiply that by 2. To find the circumference you have to measure the diameter then multiply by 3.14 (witch is pi). An example is

C= pi x D
C= 3.14 x 4
C= 12.56
