Math And E.L.A exams

In E.la we are starting to study for exams. First we did a schonal test out of 100. After you corrected it, you had to ffigure out what your mark was. Mr.Routledge told us where we were before and we are now. Most people went up. Also 20 of those 100 words are going to be one the test.

In math we started studying for exams. The first thing we did was mental math. You had to number your paper 1-10 and answer questions. We also did the no calculators part, witch might take some people quite a long time. It has questions like 432.89 x 523.80. Then we started some of the third part that you can use calculators in.

Angles

In math we are reviewing for an exam. One of the things we learned about was angles. An acute angle is less than 90 degrees, an obtuse angle is 90 degrees to 180 degrees. a right angle is exactly 90 degrees and a reflex angle is 180 to 360 degrees.

Math

In math class we have been going over review for exams coming up soon. In one of the review sheets there was a question that said we were supposed to put some numbers in scientific notation. This is how you do scientific notation.

Ex. 22,149
4 3 2 1
2 x 10 + 2 x 10 + 1 x 10 + 4 x 10 + 9

All you do is get your biggest number (in value) and multiply it by ten to the power of how ever many numbers are left in your original number (22,149)

Math

Today we learned about mean, median and mode.

Mean is an average group of numbers. to get mean you have to add the numbers together, divide the total for the numbers by how many numbers there is all together.

Median is a group of numbers that is ordered greatest to largest.

Mode is a number that appears most often in a group of numbers.

Math

Yesterday in math we learned about Mean,Median,Mode and Range.

Mean-Is the average group of numbers.Step one:add the numbers together,Step two:Divide the sum of the numbers by by how many numbers in total.

Range-Is the difference between the highest and lowest numbers in a group of numbers.

Median-Is the middle number in a group of numbers arranged in order.

Mode-Is the number that occurs most often in a set of numbers.

Math

Yesterday in math we learned about range, median, mode, mean.

Mean- the average number in a group of numbers. To find it, add all the numbers together and then divide by the amount of numbers.
Mode- the number that occurs the most. You just have to find the number that appears the most. It is fine to have more than one number.
Median- the number that is in the middle of a group of number that are arranged in order. If there are two in the middle, add them together and divide them by 2.
Range-the difference between the lowest and highest numbers.

ela

we have started studying for exam.ela exam is on 21st math exam is on the 22ndafter after the examif you have a note you can go home.

numbers in word form

today in math class we reviewed unit 1 math wich is the different forms for numbers. there is standard, exponential, word form, and expanded.

ex: 25
standard- 25
exponential-52
word form- twenty five
expanded form- 20+5=25
Today in math class we started to study unit 1 for our math exam. It is on expanded for and scientific notation and all of that stuff for example expanded for looks like this. 1,236,987
1,000,000+200,000+30,000+ 6,000+ 900+80+7

Math

In math we learned what mean, median, mode and range

mean- the sum of the number divided by the numbers in a set.

median- the middle number in a set of numbers arranged in order.

mode - the number that appears the most.

range- the difference between the highest and lowest numbers in a set

Today in Math we learned about stem and leaf plots. Stem and Leaf plots are one of the most easiest graphs. The person that first a stem and leaf plots was Arther Bowley. He started making them in the early 1900's. By the 1980's the Stem and Leaf plots became commonly used all of the world!

Math

Today in math we lerned about circle graphs. Circle graphs are a circle with information in it, it has percents insted of numbers. In a circle there are 360 degrees. To make a circel graph you need,
1: protractor
2: Ruler
3: Compass
4: Pencil
Example:
25% of 360
0.25 x 360 = 90 degrees.

Circle Graphs

Today in math we learned how to make circle graphs. To make a circle graph you have to know how many degrees of the angle each percent is. Example:
25% of 360 degrees
0.25X360=90 degrees
Then you make a 90 degree angle on your graph and label it 25%.

N.H.L Press Conference

On Tuesday we watched the N.H.L press conference about if Atlanta Thrashers are coming to Winnipeg. It has been 15 years since Manitoba had a team. There name is not going to be the Jets. They haven't announced what the team name will be. When The city of Winnipeg heard the news everyone went on the streets and celebrated for all the day till the night. A lot of people were wearing the Jets logo.

In science yesterday we started to make spaghetti bridges. When you make a bridge you want to make it make it vary light and make it strong. So when i made my bridge i made a base that was strong and light. And when you are making the bridge if you want extra support you can take some spaghetti and cross it over your base.

Math

In math we learned about reflections. You first draw a co-ordinate plane. Then you will draw your points like A, B and C, then you would draw the line from one point to the next and since there is only three points it should make a triangle. Next you will draw the reflection line any where on the paper. After you draw the reflection line you will draw your reflection on the other side of the reflection line. And after you are finished it should look the same as someone looking in a mirror the reflection image.

Short Stories

In short stories we are writing another short story. But this time instead of writing about one thing you like, we write about oner thing you hate. Last time you had to do a what-why-how chart, and idea details chart and Draw-Label-Caption. But this time you only had to do the what-why-how chart and ideas details. MY story is about a Wasp Who Couldn't Fly. The wasps name is Andrew, His mom and him had to move from there old house to Moose Jaw because a spider ate there home. The problem was that she lost her stinger so the other wasps made fun of her. The other problem was that she couldn't fly.

Did you know that wasps bite you even if you don't do anything to them.

Today in Science we worked on our spaghetti bridges. When we are done building the bridges we are putting weights on the bridges. The reason we are building these bridges is to see who's is the lights. The bridge must still be able to hold weights. We are to bring all of our own supplies. Most of us are using hot glue guns to hold the spaghetti in to place. We are not aloud to use any think but some type of glue and spaghetti.

Ducks

In short stories we are writing our own short stories. My story has a duck in it. Did you know that there are many different groups of ducks some include dabbing ducks, diving ducks, eider, goldeneye and others types too.

ELA

In English class we had to write a short story in only a few classes spread over a couple of days. My story is about a boy named Bob who lives in the city of Toronto and absolutely hates school. He hates allot of different subjects in school and would way rather be gaming out all day instead. In the end school isn't that bad. One thing that we learned was that to make a good short story you have to have a beginning, middle and end. We also learned that there has to be a problem and some how it has to be solved.

ALEC

Children's Story

This week we had to make our second children's story. The week before my stoory was about a gir named Sally who had a very adventure's mind. My story this week was about a girl named Carmen who hates rainy days. Carmen didn't have rain boots and she really wanted to go and play out in the puddles. So her Mom went uptown and bought her nice yellow rubber boots. Our stories were 4 pages long. The first page was an introduction. the second and third pages were problems. And the 4th page was how it all got fixed.

translations

A translation is where you take a point of a shape on a coordinate plane and move it over however many times it says and move it up or down however many times it says. You use the same set of numbers for every point and eventually you will have the exact same shape just in a different spot. The image is an example using the numbers (6,-4)

E.L.A.

this week we have to make a short story that is four pages long and have to have four pictures for each page. then you have to colour in each picture. and you have to make a title page that is colourful, has your title on it and has to have something to do with your story. its all due friday. and we still have tomorrow and thursday to work on it. my story is about this girl who wont clean her room. but in the end, learns her lesson and cleans her room offten.

Symmetry

Today we learned about lines of symmetry and planes of symmetry. Lines of symmetry divide a 2 dimensional objects into 2 equal parts. Each part is a reflection of the other. Planes of symmetry divide a 3 dimensional object into 2 equal parts. Each part is also a reflection of the other.

Math

In math we learned what lines of symmetry means.

A line of symmetry divides a figure into two identical parts. Each part is the reflection image of the other part.

ela

in ela we are creating short. i have done 2 so far one about rodeo and this done about paintballing

Math

Today in math we were working on lines of symmetry and planes of symmetry.

Lines Of symmetry:A line of symmetry divides a figure into two identical parts. Each part is the reflection image of the other part.A baseball diamond has one line of symmetry.Ex:A pentagon has 4 lines of symmetry.

Planes of symmetry:Many three dimensional objects are symmetrical. The left hand and right hand halves of this Canadian aircraft are the same.Ex:An Isosceles triangular prism has one line of symmetry.

Math

Yesterday in math we learned about rotations.  There is a rotation point and you can rotate the shape 90, 180, 270, and 360. Counterclockwise is ccw, and clockwise is cw.

Drama

for drama we have to write a puppet show. we had to write our own script and make everything.
