Lately our class has been learning about algebra in math class.
Ex. c=50h-p
c=50(5)-p
c=250-4
c=246

short stories

in short stories we all pick 5 random words. and after that we write 1 paragraph and then someone else said 5 more words and we do 1 more paragraph until we have 1 full story

Algebra

In math our class is doing algebra.
To do the math question you have to follow a rule.
-Write the formula.
-Replace letters by their values.
-Complete the calculation
-Check that your answer is reasonable.

In Third period of the day we are having a class party. We are having a gift exghange. Later in the afternoon we are having an assembly and we get to perform our lip sync.

Grammar

Today in grammar we learned about pronouns. A pronoun is a word that replaces a noun. Ex. Sammantha is going to the park. You could replace 'Sammantha' with the pronoun 'She.'

Gods Must Be Crazy 1 - Land Rover - Part 1

Today in Social we watched a video called The gods must be crazy.I learned that some people in the world think that they are the only people in the world.

Pronouns

In grammar, we learned about pronouns. Pronouns are words that can replace nouns. Some common pronouns are: I, his, mine, yours, and theirs.

ex: I went to his house to get his CD.
When we replace the pronouns with nouns, we get this:
I went to Bill's house to get Bill's CD.

Grammar

In grammar today we learned about pronouns. Pronoun is a word that replaces a noun or noun phrases. Her are some pronouns: I , we, me , my , mine , you , yours, her.

EX: I am going with my friend Carmen to her house.

The pronouns in that sentence are I, my, her.

Subtracting Integers

Yesterday in math we learned how to subtract integers.



Example: (-5) - (+3) = (-8)
Work: (-5) - (-3) =(-8)

Short Stories

Today in short stories we all wrote a short story the title was room 106 Christmas story this was very fun we had to write 4 paragraphs with words that were on the smart board (A large touch screen protector.).

In math we learned how to Use A Formula

1. Write the formula.
2.Replace the letters by their values.

ELA

In ELA to day we did some short stories and we had to fit five words into a paragraph. Some of the words we used were Pete, Kevin, Wales, platypus, hippo, caterpillar and those were six out of the twenty words we had to use in our short story.

Today in math we learned about subtracting integers the rule about subtracting integers is when you subtract integers you add the opposite to find the answer. you never change the first number in the question. An Example is- (+3) - (-2) that goes to (+3) + (+2) = (+5) that is how you show your work!

In math we are working on subtracting integers. to subtract an integer you have to make the subtracting sign into an addition sign and the second integer the opposite. do not change the first integer.

An example is:(-3)-(-3)=
(-3)+(+3)=0

science

today in science we learned about water in our environment.
Did  you no that two thirds of the earth is water.

In math today we learned how to subtract positive and negative integers

S.S

Today in S.S we are finishing up any work that didn't get finished.Or the paper were you have to look up non government associations and explain what they do.

Drama

In drama we are doing commercials and me and my partner are doing are's on heated gloves that have a temperature gauge on them.

Short Stories

On Monday Mr. Routledge told the class about a
contest. You have to make up your own story and
if you win you can win $400 or more.
My story is called The New Kid.
my short story is about a girl named Emily
and she becomes the New Girl's best
friend. The New Girl's name is Madison.
Every bodies is different. I hope that one us in this class wins

Math

In math we are learing how to add integers to add an integer you have to go one negative or positive number plus another negative or positive number. an example is:(+4) +(+5)=(+9) the adding sigh is positive and the subtracting sighn is negative.

Math

In math today we learned how to add integers. When you add two positives you get a positive answer. If you add two negatives you get a negative answer.

But what if you add a positive and a negative. Well lets say you have

(+5) + (-3) well you have to cancel out 3 positives with the negatives so you have (+2) left.

Today in Grammar we did a booklet on verbs. Mr Routledge gave it to us to see what we learned in the unit about verbs.

Yesterday in Social Studies we played this game.This game was about how the world works and how rich countries help poor countries with there problems like hungry.It was a really fun game and I hope we get to play it again.

Today we had an assignment on grammar. The booklet was on verbs. An action verb is a word that shows action. Ex. She walked to the store. Walked was the action verb.

in social study's we played a game that we were different countries and had to make paper rings to get money.

In grammar we learned what helping verb are. Some helping verbs are am, are, was, be, been,has, and can.
ex.Devon has arrived at the co-op.

Listening

Today in listening we listened to a story about Apollo 11. I learned that Apollo 11 was the first space mission to land on the moon. I also learned that the first people to land on the moon were from the United States.

Social

In Social Yesterday We Learned how countries have less resorces than other countries. We played a game and that tought us how to trade our resorces for other resorces from the other countries.

Solutions

Today in science we learned about solutions. A solute is a substance that dissolves into another substance. A solvent is a substance that dissolves other substances.

today in science we watched a Bill Nye the science Guy video about chemical reactions. then we talked about it and then we talked about unit 5, chemical reaction and what they are.

Comic Strip

In short stories we are doing a comic book strip on the book Mrs.Esposito's Pizza. That book is about a man named Victor who was rich. He went to his old neighbourhood and bought a pizza. When he walked outside he was held up by a mugger. The mugger stole his pizzabut didn't take his expensive things.

Today we had artiest in the school artiest in the school is when there is a drama or painter or someone like that comes in to the school and teaches about different thinks the artiest in the school that we have is teaching us about drama and how to make up random words as we are acting out.

Today In Science We Got Our Science Test Back. Our Test was about Matter ,danger signs and what whmis means. One thing i learned all the safety signs.

In math today we learned how to add and subtract fractions.

Before you can add or subtract you have to make

the denominator the same. Example:

4/10 + 3/5 =

4x1/10x1 + 3x2/5x2

4/10 + 6/10 = 10/10= 1

Science Test

Today we had our science test. It was on matter, mixtures, pure substances and safety symbols. One thing we learned was:
Heterogeneous means that you can see the bits and pieces in the substance. Homogeneous means that all the pieces look the same.

We are learning how to write decimals as fractions and then put into lowest terms.
Example: 0.875=7/8

Enrichment

Today in Enrichment we were finishing up our movies by burning them on discs. it was quite easy really. My move was so posed to be a stop motion but I got bored of it and so I turned it into a documentary about the Dam Busters, and the RED ARROWS !!!

In science we have learned what atoms are. Atoms are the tiniest particles. They are so tiny that the most powerful microscope can not see them.

Map of Honduras

Today in Social Studies we had to label, colour, and write the lines of latitude and longitude on a map of Honduras. I learned that Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua are all countries surrounding Honduras.

Magizine Trip

1 more day until our magazine field trip. (We won the top selling class at vjh)

Science

In science we learned about the periodic tables and elements. The biggest one is Uranium

French

In French yesterday we were in our groups and practiced the play "Three Little Pigs". But the hard part is we have to say it in French. It is hard.

Math

Yesterday we did a math sheet on changing fractions into decimals. An example is 1/10 = 0.01 because both of those equal 1 tenth.

S.S.

Yesterday in social studies we went to the computer lab and were supposed to compare the differences between two countries. The countries were Canada and Honduras and we had to write down the information we gathered.

Today in math we learned about how to write decimals into fractions. If the denominitor is not 10,100 or 1000 than you have to change it by multipling it by a number that equals 10 , 100 or 100.Then you have to multiply the numerator by that same number you multiplied the denominator with. If the denominator dosent go into 10,100 or 1000 divide the numerator by the denominator.

example:3/10=0.3

Today in Drama we started learning about commercials.One think I learned is that they motivate you to buy this product!Even if the product does not work they still motivate you to buy the product!How do they do they make you want to buy the products they are selling??? They make there voice sound very expressive and they make it sound like the product they are selling really works!!!!!
